The hearing protection validation system ensures the employee is getting the protection they need. To figure this out, you need to know the Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) of every employee.
The highest-NRR earplug or earmuff won’t provide the expected protection if it doesn’t fit right or isn’t used right. Once you know each employee’s number, you’ll confidence in your hearing conservation program.
A “fail” result means the hearing protection is either not inserted properly or is the wrong type or size for the worker’s ear canal. This means you can retest, once further training on how to insert the earplug properly, or find an alternate hearing protection device.
A “pass” result means the hearing protection is inserted properly and provides sufficient protection for the worker’s specific job. They can be issued with a report andthis is valid for 2 years.
The 3M™ E-A-R fit™ Dual-Ear Validation System measures the effectiveness of the earplug from inside the employee’s ear, providing accurate, quantitative results. And because you can simultaneously test both ears, you’ll have more time to educate employees on the importance of fit and compliance.
The EAR Validation fit testing is both easy and time efficient. Both ears are done at once, and it is a completely objective process, meaning no subjective results from the employee.
We suggest you allow at least 15 minutes for a hearing protection fit testing appointment.
The EAR Validation system is unique to 3M product. It cannot test other brands on the market.
